Digital Dishes
Posted in: Creative DevelopmentA free digital workshop for over fifties from across Europe
Preparing and sharing food is a universal experience, a ritual that connects people across boundaries and cultures. Everyone has a story about food eaten, meals shared, experiences remembered. What’s yours?
If you are over 50, we invite you to apply for a week of workshops at Watershed (8 – 12 April 2013) where you will develop your digital skills, work with artists Stand + Stare, and help create a collection of food related stories for Theatre Jukebox, an interactive installation that plays stories rather than songs!
You don’t need to have any experience or knowledge to take part – you’ll get all the training you need in smart phones, blogging, and film and photo computer programmes to create your own personal story.
We’re looking for people from all over Europe, so you will have the chance to meet and work with people from different cultures, share experiences and make new friends. We’ll tell stories, get to know each other, and share food together.
So what would your foodie story be? Perhaps you want to share your favourite dishes, or treasured meal moments with friends and family. Maybe you have a childhood memory of food (they can be good or bad!), or a taste that reminds you of a certain someone.
Digital Dishes is open to anyone over 50 in Europe, and your travel, accommodation, and (naturally!) food, will be provided.
It builds on the success of last year’s Grundtvig programmes, where learners over fifty years old – from Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Iceland, France, Belgium, Germany, Lithuania and the UK - took part in digital workshops which encouraged them to share their personal experiences: one was themed around water (Memories and Mediascapes), the other centred on love (Love: A Digital Storytelling Workshop). Watch the results on DShed to get a flavour of what’s to come in April.
Sound tasty? To apply for a place on Digital Dishes, simply download and complete the application form below before 28 Jan 2013.
If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact Hannah Higginson at grundtvig@watershed.co.uk.
Closing Date: 6pm on Mon 28 Jan 2013
