The Minnesota Twins finish their 2012 home season having played 81 games at Target Field this year and have drawn a total of 2,776,354 fans for a average of 34,276 per game. The largest crowd of the season was on August 11 against the Tampa Rays when they drew a crowd of 39,512 fans. In 2011 the Twins attendance stood at 3,168,116 and when compared to this season, attendance was down 391,762. Average attendance ran about 12% below last season. Only the Houston Astros have seen a bigger attendance drop this year then the Twins have. In spite of the attendance drop, the Twins have the 11th highest attendance (6th in the American League) in all of baseball this season. The Twins reported 8 sellouts this season.

The Twins sell out streak ended at 81 games when they did not sell out for either of the games against the Kansas City Royals on April 12-13. The Twins finished the 2011 seaon with 81 home games and drew 3,168,116 fans surpassing the three million mark for the second year in a row and for the third time in franchise history. Twins Attendance Facts
After finishing dead last in American league attendance for six straight season at Griffith Stadium II, team owner Calvin Griffith moved the Washington Senator franchise to Minnesota after the 1960 season and the Minnesota Twins were born. The Twins opened play in 1961 at Metropolitan Stadium; the former minor league park located in Bloomington and home of the former AAA Minneapolis Millers and drew 1,256,723 fans through the gates, the third highest attendance in the newly expanded ten team American league.

If the club does not sell 2.41 million tickets that season, the Twins can break their lease with the Metrodome. Taking advantage of reduced prices on the Family day promotion, Mackay pays $218,718 for 44,166 tickets.
- The Twins have eclipsed three million fans three times in franchise history and set a new all-time franchise record with a 2010 home attendance of 3,223,640. The previous record of 3,030,672 was set in 1988, the year following the Twins first-ever World Series Championship. During the inaugural season at Target Field, the Twins sold out a franchise-record 79 games (including 78 consecutive). They also drew crowds of 40,000 or more in 22 consecutive games from July 3rd – August 31st, eclipsing the previous mark of seven consecutive games of 40,000 or more fans set from August 10-20, 1988.

The Twins set the record for the highest single-game attendance in their 21 year history at the Lee County Sports Complex, when they drew 8,347 fans to Hammond Stadium on March 28, 2011 against the Pittsburgh Pirates in their final Florida exhibition game.
