Review: RoadID

So many times I went for a run in the dark or in the rain and wondered “what if something happens to me?”. Even though I always make sure to wear reflecting gear and I’m following illuminated roads as much as possible, crossing roads and running close to roads remains potentially very dangerous. My running buddy is usually my iPhone. Who would be able to talk for me if I become unconscious after getting hit by a car? And without even going there what if I just dropped suddenly on the ground for some reason? If my iPhone broke, or if the person finding me can’t use it, who would know who I am? Who to contact? I would be helpful to first time responders to have my medical history in order to give me the best medical response adapted to my eventual condition or medication allergies. Sure you could take with you a piece of identification, a driving license card, or a birth certificate card with some paper describing your allergies. Where to keep all this so it gets easily discovered? And what if you lose all this on the go?

Review: Dr. Dre PowerBeats Sport Headphones.

A few months ago, I reviewed the Philips ActionFit Earhook Sport Headphones. (see review).  While I was pleased with the product the pair broke after 3 months of use.

Beats by Dr. Dre have the reputation of being a front runner in the industry when it comes to sound quality.  The PowerBeats don’t dissapoint, delivering solid Bass and very crisp response in the the high end.

Build: I’ve read countless reviews slamming the build quality of these headphones, and I completely disagree.  I have been very pleased with the qualty of the headphones, they do seem to have a build quality that will give the product longevity.

Fit: In-Ear headphones are not for everybody, finding the proper fit in your ear cavity can sometimes be challenging.  I can say that out of the box, these headphones fit perfectly. They are very lightweight and fit very comfortably in the ear.

Sound: This is were these headphone shine.  The sound is so very well rounded with a bump on the lower end that Beats are famous for.  I major step up from Apple’s white earbuds.

iPhone Control: Another are where I have been pleased by this product.  The Philips iPhone control left alot to be desired. The button on the powebeats is nice and big and can be controled easily while running.

What’s Included?: In the box, you will recieve a nice carrying case and headphone extension cable.

Cons: The only thing that I have to say that the PowerBeats have going against them is the price.  At $199, they are a very costly accessory to purchase.

Bottom line: If you are looking for a quality training headphone and are willing to lighten your wallet then the PowerBeats are a great sounding and fitting product.

When making a lifestyle change, it is important to track the progress of your journey.  Without results, there is no reward.  When choosing to lose weight, the scale can be your best friend or worst enemy.  Tracking a positive change in your progress can be the key to helping you keep motivated to stay on target.

Digital scales are pretty commonplace these days.  The Withings scale is much more than a digital scale. The Withings scale is connected your household WIFI connection and sends your weight, BMI and Fat Mass up to the Withings website so you can track your progress either online, your iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Global Trainer GPS

My Christmas was focused on getting into shape and helping my pre planned resolution to FINALLY get into running. I was looking for a few gifts to help out. Mainly I had asked for a GPS Tracking watch. I’m a big fan of gadgets and I like anything that keeps me interested in getting out for a run. I was lucky enough to receive a Timex Global Trainer GPS watch.

Review: Philips ActionFit Earhook Sports Headset

If you train with an iPod, the most important accessory are the headphones. Apple comes under so much fire for the quality of their earbuds, and personally I think that the supplied buds you get with a new iDevice aren’t really that bad.

There is something about the fit of the Apple earbuds that have always been comfortable and secure for me, as I rarely have them fall out of my ears while running. Comfort is a huge deal for me when I’m running long distances.
