spacer Raised on a horse farm in Bourbon County, Kentucky, Scott McKenzie received a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Mississippi. His work has appeared in Tin House, Premier Guitar, Stuff, Sync, Inked, Laptop, Articulate, The Daily Planet, Pen World, The Panhandler, the Wall Street Journal’s Managing Your Career publication, The Aethlon: Journal of Sport and Literature, and others.

His online work has appeared on CrunchGear, PopMatters, Crimescene, WristWatchReview, and others. He runs the books-and-publishing blog, Slushpile.net.

He is the co-author of The Man Behind the Nose: Assassins, Astronauts, Cannibals, and Other Stupendous Tales by Larry Harmon.

For Power Chord, McKenzie travelled from yoga centers in the Berkshire Mountains, to rural Oklahoma, to the famed Sunset Strip in an effort to meet his guitar heroes.

By the way, the whole “is it Thomas?” or “is it Scott?” question comes up a lot. Our dedicated, but clean cut, rocker wannabe is called Scott by his friends and colleagues. If someone uses the name “Thomas,” then it’s usually a bill collector. Or his mom, cause he’s in trouble.
