Is Cameron Diaz beyond parody? “Oooh,” she sighs, somewhat erotically, flopping into a chair, a disarming combo of eyes, lips and blondeness. “I just had two and a half hours of acupuncture and massage. I’m basically drunk from the needles. You know how the needles get you?” She smiles, lazily. “You know?”

We’re sitting in a suite at the Savoy. Outside, the Thames looks especially dingy, but inside, the temperature has ratcheted up several degrees since Diaz strolled in from her afternoon at the salon. At 40 — how is she 40? — she’s a raging knockout, a sun-toasted testament to what a diet of optimism and steamed kale can do for a girl. The face, now with faint creases, remains adorable, while her concrete curves have been honed by the hours of predawn gym workouts she puts in every day.
