I think it would be neat to be able to search mixes by how long they are... like if you're looking for an hour long mix, or a 20 minute mix, or a really long one, you could specify that during your search. Or maybe add a "sort by playlist length" function when search results are displayed? This could be by number of songs, or by minutes/hours. Or maybe when people make mixes, if there was a way they could categorize their mixes into "short" "medium length" or "long"? Is this already a thing? I don't know how hard it would be to do, but I think it would be super useful!

every social networking interface has an easy way to search for friends... i know you can "follow people", but the only way i see to do that is to search for a mix they made. You should be able to easily search for people by various types of info, and easily see your friend list.

Your volume control doesn't seem to be implemented correctly. I don't know if this is how it's done, but it SEEMS like it's implemented linearly whereas volume is measured with the decibel system which is logarithmic. Here's how the volume control seems to work for me. 0% is mute, and 1% is actually like 60-75% volume. So basically the whole of the volume slider makes minimal changes to the actual volume. Please implement a more logarithmic volume control. Thanks.

Please add in an option to categorize my liked playlists (i.e. study, party, chill, etc.). Ideally, I should just drag and drop my playlists into folder-like categories that I can go into depending on what I feel like listening to! :) I have 62 liked playlists, and It takes forever to find what I want!

I love 8tracks, but I think your liking calculations are not fair. Why? Firstly: It depends *all* on the first track. Found that out by shuffeling my first two tracks and get enormous differences. So one should only be able to like if one has heard, let's say, a fourth of the playlist. Also, the "played" counter should not be increased if someone only heard your first song and then aborted. Secondly you make it all depend on the plays/likes ratio. But if a playlist is good, users play it twice, which will make the ratio decrease. This should not be counted as played, either. This is silly but it bugs me so often I thought I would post it here. I go to my liked mixes almost every time I get on 8tracks but if for any reason I have to restart my browser (sometimes audio chokes and only a refresh will bring it back), 8tracks will load the playlist I was listening to BUT now it won't know that I was listening to my liked playlists and move to something else when the list is over. A related case is when i close the tab (lets say accidentally) and then i want to go back to where i left at... then i need to browse to my liked played lists and navigate all the way to the list I was listening to. An idea is to have a url (like /liked/) that get's the same session information about the last played list and continues where I left off :)

How about a button that when pressed shuffles the current mix`s tracks and restarts it? I think that`d be pretty awesome :) I know each mix gets shuffled automatically the second time you play it but it would be cool to be able to do that whenever you want to, since playing a specific track in a mix is forbidden... At least you could restart/reshuffle the mix and hope some of the tracks you liked will be coming around sometime soon! Plus, it`s pretty bothering at times to have to listen to the whole mix before even hoping to hear that track you liked again, right? Perhaps, in order not to make the site TOO interactive, you would limit the amount of shuffles to 3/hour or something... So what do you say? :D

Android 4.0 has the ability for apps to have play/pause/fast forward controls on both the lockscreen and windowshade pull-down menu. Pocket casts and the Play Music app both use these. It would be AMAZING with 8tracks.

The new layout makes things a bit more complicated than how 8tracks worked before. Since I don't care about popular playlists (I prefer newer stuff), I was always looking at the hot/trending section. Though now the popular section appears along with the trending and new section on any search page. I preferred the simplicity of the previous layout, it made browsing and using 8tracks better than the current layout in my opinion. I think that you could allow users to choose how their 8tracks is layed-out, that way you can test new layouts while allowing users to browse 8tracks in a way that suits them.

"Liked" mixes implies you have listened to that mix and want to hear it again. There should be a way to have a "to listen to" list. - ie mixes that you haven't heard but will check out in the future. I realised I could do this in my browser or delicious etc, but it would be nice to integrate into the site...

On the one hand, it's nice that at the end of a mix, you're automatically brought to a new mix, with seamless music. However, sometimes it's a bit confusing when this happens, and even if I like the music I'm not sure what I'm listening to. And sometimes, I'd like to give feedback on the mix I just listened to. I would suggest a -- "hey, you just finished listening to {mix-name}, want to leave feedback? Otherwise, here's {next-mix-name}". The whole thing would take 10 seconds, and wouldn't interrupt the flow, but would remind me to go leave a comment if I wanted to. If I didn't want to, no big deal, I just keep listening.

As a listener, I wish that there was something to remind or encourage me to "like" a mix after I finish listening - I often forget to click the favorite-button, and I suspect many others do too, so there's a substantial amount of "randomness" to how many likes a mix receives, which isn't really fair to DJs who put a lot of work into compiling and uploading all these great mixes for us. I would like to see a "did you like...?" drop-down added to the main toolbar - this would display a list of recently played mixes, with a "like" and a "dismiss" button next to each. This list should only display mixes that I finished - if you didn't care enough to finish the mix, it's unlikely you forgot to press "like". And of course, it should only display items that I didn't already "like". The button itself would display conditionally - if there are no items in the list, the button should not appear at all. It's supposed to remind you to "like" mixes you finished. For those of us who have the "automatically play next mix" option switched off, it would be nice to also have a prompt on the page after finishing the last song - if I didn't already press "like", you could display a reminder, e.g. "did you like this mix?". On a related note, I strongly support this idea: 8tracks.uservoice.com/forums/1858-general/suggestions/436540-announce-the-end-of-a-mix-via-audio A user who has the auto-continue option switched on may not even be aware when each mix started or ended, so this feature becomes even more important, since I may not even know which mixes I liked (or didn't like) On a final note, users who are more diligent about using the "like" button should have an option to switch off the "did you like" prompt, if they find it unnecessary.

Dear 8tracks, why is there such high CPU usage when I'm playing a mixtape with Firefox in Ubuntu? It only happens when a song is playing (not between songs) and it only happens if I have the window open. What is consuming so many resources? Thanks for listening ;)

Using something like Flash Air so it could be used on both Macs and PCs. As much as I love 8tracks, it opens up a whole window of distractions (internet) when I'm working. I've been using Mozilla Prism, but it just doesn't cut it.
