We are now accepting submissions for Songs for the Cure ’12 until JULY 15th, 2012 at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time.

Due to overwhelming growth and response over the past three years, we have changed our submission process. All tracks must be complete at the time of submission.

We are also excited to announce that we’ll be releasing SFTC’12 with the partnership of the Game Music Bundle. Past involvement with GMB has allowed Songs for the Cure to reach a much larger audience than possible in the past, and consequently raise a much larger sum for the American Cancer Society. As such, we expect the content on SFTC12 to be much more catered for a specific audience.

Note: If you want submit a cover song, please get permission first – we’re happy to include rearrangements, so if you have any particular questions, shoot me an email at josh@cancerdrive.org. A large batch of CDs has arrived, so naturally it’s time to start shipping out more CDs! If you haven’t received your Songs for the Cure ’11 discs yet, they will be shipping out on Monday. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far and we hope you enjoy your CDs!

Songs for the Cure ’11 has currently raised $2,500 for the American Cancer Society. Admittedly, this is well behind where we’d like to be to reach our goal of $10,000 by April 29th – but still an accomplishment.

If you haven’t done so yet, now is a great time to order SONGS FOR THE CURE ’11:

SONGS FOR THE CURE ’11 has arrived in the form of two albums with a third to follow in the coming weeks.  We’ve raised an astonishing $1,700 before the release of the CDs and will be continuing to promote the albums throughout the year.

For those who donated already, you will be receiving two download codes shortly in your email to redeem the albums in your choice of formats (MP3, FLAC, AAC, and more).  CDs will begin shipping by the end of the week and a third package with the final CD will ship in the coming month.

The third album, Reiki, has been delayed due to unforeseeable recording problems.  Reiki is primarily composed of instrumental pieces and live music that requires the coordination of a talented group of musicians.  We’re dedicated to matching their talents with the best quality recording we can provide, and we’d provide no less for our donors.

We apologize for the delay of the release of Reiki and we’ll let you know as soon as the album becomes available.

Songs for the Cure is primarily a cause aimed to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, but right now it is Japan that needs your aid most.

Forward to us a receipt of your donation of $10 or more to a fund established to aid Japan and we’ll send you download codes for Songs for the Cure ’09 and Songs for the Cure ’10.

Video Game Music and chiptune hero Jake “virt” Kaufman and OneUps and Bad Dudes member Kunal “ktriton” Majmudar have joined Songs for the Cure ’11 and are our final two contributors to create the most impressive lineup that we’ve had yet.  If you haven’t donated yet to contribute to our fight against cancer to benefit the American Cancer Society then now is a great time to do so (come on, donate!).  The full Songs for the Cure ’11 compilation, including 3 complete albums, will be released on MARCH 29th, 2011.

After several months in planning, we’re pleased to announce the complete lineup for Songs for the Cure ’11.  Deus Ex composer Alexander Brandon joins game music heavyweights Alec and Eileen Holowka (Aquaria), C418 (Minecraft), Chris Geehan (A.R.E.S.), Danny Baranowsky (Super Meat Boy), Disasterpeace (Fez), Jimmy “big giant circles” Hinson (Mass Effect 2), Mattias Häggström Gerdt (Cobalt), Inverse Phase (Super Smash Land) Souleye (VVVVVV), Stemage (Alpha Squad), Josh Whelchel (The Spirit Engine 2, GunGirl 2) and Whitaker Blackall (Tilt to Live) to round out our roster of game music composers.

The composers are joined by Overclocked ReMix and Bad Dudes notables djpretzel, FFMusic DJ, Joshua Morse, Level 99, Prophetik and Poolside.  This list doesn’t even mention the handful of extremely talented non-game related musicians that we’ll spill more about later when we announce each album.  You can review the complete list on our artist catalogue.

So far we’ve raised $450 through our valentines promotion and general predonations.  Help keep the numbers growing by donating today!  The album release date is scheduled for MARCH 29th, 2011.

Our compilation this year includes music by over 30 talented composers, producers, and performers spanning three complete CDs.  Featured composers include Danny Baranowsky (Super Meat Boy), Joshua Morse (Bad Dudes), C418 (Minecraft), djpretzel (ocremix.org), Mattias Häggström Gerdt (Cobalt), Jimmy “Big Giant Circles” Hinson (Mass Effect 2), Disasterpeace (Rescue all Beagles), Souleye (VVVVVV), Alec Holowka (Aquaria) and more. Some of our performers include Stemage (Metroid Metal), Battlecake, Jay Tholen, Morgen La Civita, Tina Lundelius, Sara Celina, and way more than we can mention in this release.

Songs for the Cure ’11 will be released as three separate albums on March 29th, 2011 – available as digital downloads and physical CDs.  You will be able to purchase either all three bundled together for $15 or each album separately for $10.  Physical CDs will only additionally include the cost of shipping. As always, all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
