Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

SEDL's Disability Research to Practice Program is happy to welcome you to this web site focusing on issues and strategies for improving employment outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This website will feature work and resources developed by the Vocational Rehabilitation Service Models for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (VR Autism) project that began in October 2008. The project is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) in the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS).

The VR Autism project addresses the dual challenge—the increasing numbers of Americans diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, and the extremely low employment rates among persons with disabilities. Through its research activities, the project generates new knowledge and provides information concerning what works in accessing and maintaining employment placements for people with ASD. Through its dissemination activities, the project supports a variety of methods to share information through this web site, webcasts, effective program profiles, user-friendly summaries, electronic newsletters, and reports of research.

VR Autism's National Advisory Panel identifies effective employment programs for people with ASD throughout the United States. Meet individuals with ASD who have maintained competitive employment in their communities with assistance from these effective programs.
