Health and Safety Training Course - Food Hygiene Certificate

Whereas Food Safety courses protect the food, Health & Safety protects people. Under the health and safety at work act 1974, and a wealth of later additional regulations, training staff in health and safety is a legal requirement.

If you are a food worker you should receive training in health and safety as well as food safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • QWhat is the difference between food safety and health & safety?
  • AFood safety is all about protecting the food, for example, from contamination. Health and safety is about protecting the individual workers and visitors at the workplace.
  • QMust I train my staff in health and safety?
  • AYes. It is a legal requirement to train staff in health and safety.
  • QMust I send my staff to a formal course?
  • ANo, how you train your staff is your responsibility but when you use a City and Guilds accredited course, you know you have provided them with an excellent course containing all the relevant information. You might be very grateful for that if your staff has an accident.
  • QIs the health and safety for food workers course split into catering, manufacture and retail in the same way as food safety?
  • AThis course does not split into occupational areas as many of the hazards associated with the food industry are common to all areas.
  • QQ. How long do I have to pass the certification?
  • AOnce you have paid your course and received your access codes, the course will be available for one year. If you do not pass the certification within this period, the course expires.
