New Family; New Home!

spacer

Shona and Keisha Taylor and their children will be the proud homeowners of a new house in Denison. The lot at 514 W. Elm, donated by the City of Denison, has been prepared, with dead trees removed and brush cleared. A slab will be in place and the first walls will be ready to go up on Saturday, March 9 at 10:00am.

If you’ve never been part of a wall raising ceremony and celebration, come join us! It takes a crowd to raise the walls and transform a concrete slab into a family’s home.

Diana Cosby's - Romance Readers Build A House!

spacer There’s almost nothing better than curling up with a good book on a chilly day, especially with one of Diana Cosby’s romantic suspense novels set in medieval Scotland. But one thing even better is building a warm, safe, and secure Habitat house for a deserving family. It gives families more than just a home; it provides a foundation on which to start their future and build their dreams.

Diana’s readers have an opportunity to build such a house. As readers send contributions to Habitat for Humanity of Grayson County, watch the bookshelf fill with every donation. The goal is to fund an entire home - $55,000, in order to start construction on a new house of dreams. Send your donation via PayPal using the Donate button below or donate funds the old-fashioned way—a check works just fine!

Watch the bookshelf at the top of the left-hand column as it fills with colorful books!

Cast of Thousands

Caterpillar employees showed up en masse to get a good running start on the storage building and to install soffit and siding on Saturday. They made up a significant chunk of the crew of 48 (yes, 48!) people who showed up to help. In the last five years, Caterpillar has helped build ten Habitat houses.

Women Build Volunteers Paint a New Future

A house in much need of some t.l.c. is getting a face lift, thanks to Women Build volunteers. Mrs. Marilyn Turman, the 92-year-old Denison homeowner, will be safer and more comfortable in her home after Habitat volunteers complete all the exterior repairs: replacing siding, re-caulking, and lots of painting.

Ribbon Cutting the Habitat Way

Judge Horace Groff made quick work of cutting the 2'X 4' to celebrate the opening of Habitat's new tool trailer, purchased thanks to a generous grant from Elias and Hanna Regensburger Foundation. After years of transporting supplies in cars, pickups, vans, and open trailers, the construction crew has a beautiful, well-organized home for the affiliate's tools. No fingerprints, please!
