2nd day of 1st workshop and SIM LIM Tower

In the 2nd part (abou the 1st part here) of my first workshop in Singapore the participating students gave me feedbacks, their ideas and comments. Interestingly the sound art/ compositions students were mostly interested in the low-frequency features (the coil) of the detektor. It might not be a coincidence, that this kind of sonic exploration of our technical environment was already explored by famous sound artist Christina Kubisch, since the late 1980s. Interestingly she seemed to have started to explore the more higher frequencies too lately.

First days of “Listening to Singaporean Infoscapes” | Arrival | First Workshop

I arrived savely on the 3rd of Sept. in Singapore from Berlin via Helsinki with my wife and two-years old daughter. So far we enjoy it very much and stay at the lovely Cinnamon Collge in University Town at NUS. Today Friday 6th I did the first part of the two days workshop at NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in a beautiful recital hall, presenting the background ideas of the detektors project and explaining the fundamental workings of the device.

There were 10 students from different backgrounds (environmental engineering, sound art, composition, communication engineering etc.). I am looking forward to the second part tomorrow. More material on that soon!
