Breathing Clean Air

The average adult spends more than 80% of their time indoors, making air quality important to maintaining good health.

You can improve your indoor air in a variety of ways:

1. Select low or zero VOC paint. This will help reduce breathable toxins by minimizing these volatile organic compounds.

2. Purchase an ENERGY STAR® qualified air purifier. It can improve the quality of the air you breathe indoors while reducing utility bills.

3. Change your air filters on a regular basis. You can save up to $180 per year by replacing dirty filters every three months.

Include safety as part of your clean air campaign, purchasing such items as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Upgrade to an ENERGY STAR® qualified purifier

ENERGY STAR® qualified room air purifiers are 40% more energy-efficient than standard models, saving you about 230 kilowatt hour (kWh) usage per year and $25 annually on utility bills. These savings could add up to $200 over the life of the air purifier.

What is Eco Options?

I am often asked “What is Eco Options and why does The Home Depot have this program?” The Eco Options program identifies products that have less of an impact on the environment than comparable standard products. Our intentions are to make it easier for customers to identify which purchases will help them reduce their environmental impact.

10,973,186
The number of gallons of gasoline that, on average, emit the same amount of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in pounds that is released into the atmosphere by burning coal to produce the same amount of electricity saved by the amount of ENERGY STAR® qualified tankless water heaters sold from 2006 to 2011 at The Home Depot stores in the United States.
