NHS To Start Prescribing Alcohol
Health News: The government has unveiled controversial plans to allow doctors to start prescribing alcohol on the NHS in a bid to help the UK get through the day.
Critics of the plan claim this is further privatisation of the NHS, after one Health Minister pledged that there would be ‘an Oddbins in every hospital’ by the end of 2014.
It’s thought that doctors will start the controversial ‘alcohol therapy’ plan later this year, prescribing wine, beer or spirits to patients who clearly need a drink. It’s hoped the plan will reduce waiting times at hospitals, simply because patients will be too shitfaced to get there.
“Times are changing and the NHS can no longer solely rely on medicine and therapeutic care,” said Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Health.
“Now the NHS must also provide a range of easy drinking red wines, crisp whites and a comprehensive selection of spirits, all for the good of the nation.”

Hey nevis, it’s a shame the NHS can’t prescribe a sense of humour, because it seems you don’t have one.
