Each post in Public Domain 4U features one outstanding recording from the past.
We call these posts Music Flashcards, and each one has a downloadable mp3 link.
If you’re new at this, all you need to do to download an mp3 you like is:
Right Click -> Save As on the link where it says “Play/Download mp3.”
Or you can just sit back and enjoy, as the player automatically plays these
wonderful songs, with one click.

Thank you very much for this site. I was searching for royalty free music because we’re in the progress of producing a small documentary / advertisement film and the music question was/is quite nerve-racking because of the copyright laws etc. So we’re going to use some music from your site just to be safe.

Wondering if you found anything out about whether or not these songs can be used in film/media projects? Having a difficult time figuring that out myself.

Llewi March 6, 2013 at 3:05 pm: I was looking into this also, specifically the song Stack O’Lee Blues by Mississippi John Hurt, and it looks like you have to check if the recording is owned by a Label.

Turned out that the song I want to used, though much research and finding out who owns old label companies etc., is actually owned by Sony Music Entertainment.

So you would have to ask permission to use it as far as I can figure out.

Hi,
I wanted to make sure that I can legally use the song One Way Gal, by William Moore, downloades from here, for a video. I understand that it is now public domain. Is that correct?
