Gibson is not the most prolific, but definitely one of our artistically greatest SF authors. It is not very original to say so, but I'll be durned if that's gonna stop me from enjoying this brilliant author.

All Tomorrow's Parties

An wonderful book that shows Gibson at his most refined. Gibson's way of constructing sentences is just about unparalleled. Reading his work is an almost sensual pleasure. And that is apart from the virtues of the story or his visions about society, today's and tomorrow's.

Neuromancer

Is the huge breakthrough from 1984. It changed the face of Science Fiction and a lot of other things forever. A classic. Not like anything written before. Some has attempted to emulate it since, with very much varying succes. This is the book that brought the term "cyberspace" into use. (He may have introduced it in a short story earlier, but he did invent the term.)

Idoru

Also excellent. Sort of hard to describe though. One of the main characters is a software construct, a pop idol existing only in cyberspace. I like that.

Gibson is mostly about aesthetics. His books are an EXPERIENCE.
