AmeriFlux is funded by:
- The Department of Energy (DOE - TES)
- The Department of Commerce ( DOC - NOAA )
- The Department of Agriculture (USDA - Forest Service )
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
- The National Science Foundation (NSF)
The US DOE Climate and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) and other federal agencies, sponsor the US Global Change Research Program (GCRP), formerly the US Climate Change Science Program (CCSP), to promote cooperation with each other, academia, and the international community in order to make it as easy as possible for researchers and others to access and use global change data and information.
AmeriFlux consists of several organizational components including a Science Chair, Scientific Steering Committee, Site QA/QC Team, and Data Manager. The Science Chair is responsible for leading scientific activities of the AmeriFlux network, which includes the coordination and quality assurance of measurements across sites, leading cross-network data analysis and synthesis of results, and communicating AmeriFlux results to the scientific community and other users. The Scientific Steering Committee of scientists and agency program managers works with the Science Chair by providing technical and policy advice to help meet network goals. Other scientists support the network in the areas of QA/QC, data management, and web site communications.
