Florida State University Policy for International Experiences

The Florida State University encourages and supports international study and intercultural experiences as an integral part of our mission.  A policy has been developed to ensure the safety and security of all students participating in international experiences.

Garnet and Gold Scholar Society includes International Collaboration

The Garnet and Gold Scholar Society facilitates involvement and recognizes the engaged, well-rounded undergraduate student who excels within and beyond the classroom in the areas of Leadership, Internship, Service, International, and Research. Satisfy the International requirement by completing the Global Pathways Certificate (with the International Sustained Experience option) or participate in an Intensive International Experience Abroad, take a course such as INR 3931 Theory and Practice for Global Engagement and reflect on your experience.

Global Student Profile

Sandy Noel

spacer International Affairs major, Global Pathways Certificate: Global Issues.  In the spring of 2010, Sandy Noel participated in a Semester at Sea and traveled to Hawaii, Japan, China, Vietnam, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Ghana, and Brazil.  The experience has given her insight into her own life; adapting to cultures not her own and communicating with various types of people.  Sandy believes she “lived the dream.”  A professor aboard the ship once told her that “we should never let out age get higher than the number of countries or places we visit,” and she agrees fully.  “Never doubt that you cannot fulfill your dream or do something as crazy as travelling the world on a ship with five hundred plus people.  Strangers at first, but now considered as family.”
