ICT Central Coordination

The ICT Central Coordination Programme (ICCP) was launched in 2011 under the sponsorship of the Registrar, Professor Ewan McKendrick.

The purpose of the Programme is to combine the three central departments that provide ICT to the University in order to improve services and coordinate future development in one administrative unit. This change does not affect other IT providers that are not part of central IT, such as BDLSS (Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services), OSC (Oxford Supercomputing Centre) and the network of local IT providers across the collegiate University. The Programme is not intended to be a cost-cutting measure, but rather to enhance the existing provision, increase efficiency and effectiveness, and develop a more flexible, accountable and responsive IT service for the University.

On 1st August 2012, Business Services and Projects (BSP), the ICT Support Team (ICTST) and Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS) officially came together to form IT Services. It will, however, take about a year before the process of integrating the three departments is fully achieved; this includes the creation of a consolidated IT Services website and a single Helpdesk. In the meantime, we have established an interim website (www.it.ox.ac.uk) which will redirect visitors to the webpages of the old departments during the transition.

IT Services is led by Chief Information Officer Professor Anne Trefethen who was appointed in March 2012. Under her leadership, IT Services is committed to carrying forward the best of the values of the three previous departments in a new, dynamic IT Services which is dedicated to supporting the University of Oxford in its mission as a world-leading research and teaching university.

In order to achieve this, IT Services will:

  • be responsive to the needs of the diverse range of users;
  • provide leadership and partnership to promote effective use and development of IT across the collegiate University;
  • be a key enabler for strategic change in the University;
  • provide high-quality, robust and secure day-to-day services, while innovating and anticipating the needs of tomorrow;
  • develop end-user skills through teaching, training and support;
  • attract, support and develop high-quality IT staff.
