Our mission is to become a world renowned Center of Excellence in the areas of human genetics, genomic research and clinical genomic medicine. Using clinically advanced technology, state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained professionals, we aim to uncover the genetic contributions to disease, apply our findings to better patient care, and educate the geneticists and genomicists of tomorrow.
Established through the generous support of the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation, we are committed to the identification of genes and gene networks that cause diseases. We are in an extraordinary period of growth, especially since the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. Our recognition spans far beyond traditional single-gene disorders such as sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis, and now encompasses knowledge associated with complex conditions such as autism, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson disease.
