Fall 2013 Fashion Week: FURRY-MITTENED SNOWBALL FIGHT!

by Jenni Avins on February 11, 2013

It seems that every season, we’re already halfway through Fashion Week before I check in here at home. So it’s probably best for now, to catch up with me at the Cut, where you can watch me try to start a snowball fight outside the Alexander Wang show.

(I got GIFed by K.Ryan Jones.)

I’ve also been talking fabric deliveries with Katie Grand (which gave me flashbacks of hand-carrying Edun samples home from Peru), Chewbacca mittens with Vanessa Traina and Miroslava Duma, and great gams with André Leon Talley. Also, I  followed Carine Roitfeld around at the amFAR gala.

See how cold I am at around 1:50 in the video at the Cut? I would never have survived if not for my “Free Range Fur” vest and Erin’s hand-knit beanie, on loan. Stay tuned for Part 2!

It’s gotten even better since, and this issue is chock full of wonderful things like profiles of farming couples (not unlike my sis and her man Doug), an interview [...]

Sex and Power, Dripping from Trees: Brazilian Latex Fetish-wear (in the current issue of VICE)

spacer August 13, 2012

My latest adventure following clothing to its source took me to a remote corner of northeastern Brazil, where some Swiss expats started Fetisso, a manufacturer of kinky fetish-wear made from latex that drips from towering rubber trees. I was prepared to find a story all about power. Rubber, after all, has driven greedy imperialists throughout [...]
