• Explanation

In 2003 OMPI, EPO, OEPM and numerous national offices of Latin-American countries assumed the challenge of putting at the disposal of the public an important array of technological information in Spanish and Portuguese, contained in the documents of patents published by all of them. This program was named LATIPAT and there uses the platform of esp@cenet ®.

The countries and organizations participants agreed that the best way of contributing to the technological and institutional development in Latin America was consisting of the diffusion of the information of patents in Spanish and Portuguese who describes technology that in her most is already of public domain.

Fruit of the effort and of the commitment of the national offices participants and of the support and impulse of OMPI, EPO and OEPM it has been achieved to consolidate a database of reference in the world.

Nowadays the database contains more than one million and a half bibliographical information and several thousands of images.
