The US AdChoices Program

Managed by the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), the Self-Regulatory “AdChoices” Program in the US ensures that businesses give consumers transparency into and control over their information, eliminating the need for more heavy-handed government legislation. Evidon was the first approved technology provider for the Program.

Compliance is required for all DAA member associations. Enforcement is carried out by the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB) and Direct Marketing Association (DMA).

The EU AdChoices Programme

The European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) manages its own Self-Regulatory “AdChoices” Programme in the EU. The Programme enables businesses to give consumers transparency and control over how their information is used by companies online, specifically for OBA. Evidon is the Programme’s first provisionally approved technology provider.

Compliance is required for all EDAA member associations.

On 4 February, 2013, the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) started enforcing its code around OBA, requiring networks in particular to give consumers notice and control over data use in online ads. Other ASA equivalents are expected to follow shortly. Adoption of the EDAA AdChoices Programme is recognized as one reliable method for businesses to provide that transparency and control.
