Due to the Node.js-based technology stack and our unique hybrid document database / key-value data store, Hatch delivers blazing fast, highly consistent performance. Even complex pages with multiple dynamic / social elements render in less than 0.05s without any kind of caching required. Consequently the platform scales very well on cheap legacy hardware or the cloud with minimal complexity. 

The various functionalities within the Hatch Platform are built as plugins on top of the core framework. Hatch adopts the Node.js NPM methodologies which mean that 3rd party developers can easily get to grips with customising and building their own functionalities on top of the platform.

Hatch is a CMS where page elements can be either content or interactive widgets. This allows for a high level of flexibility when building pages and layouts. Most other web platforms make an explicit distinction where for example a discussion forum functionality can only exist on it's own page or can only operate as a sub-application, often on a different subdomain or URL.
