TOYBOX

spacer An exhibition at TROVE that led on from the discovery that the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham used to produce more “toys” than jewellery, guns or pens during the industrial revolution. It was discovered that the term ‘toys’ was used to describe items such as buttons, cuff-links and belt buckles. TOYBOX was an exhibition of performances, modified and hacked toys, and films that explored the different interpretations of the word “toy”.

spacer An international gathering of hackers, glitch artists and DIY enthusiasts. GLI.TC/H 2011 took place in Chicago, Amsterdam and Birmingham. I organised and curated the Birmingham event, which received support from Arts Council England, Birmingham City University and VIVID. GLI.TC/H invited artists from around the UK and from France, Brazil and the US and saw people attend from across the UK
