Punch Records was established in 1997 as a record store selling hard to find Black music, it quickly developed into Birmingham’s leading independent vinyl supplier to local DJ’s. After the closure of the shop in 2004, Punch continued to offer DJ workshop’s to educational establishments and youth clubs led by a team of local artists and musicians.
Punch has since organically developed into an authentic music driven arts organisation in the heart the Birmingham, working nationally and internationally. Punch exists to champion Black music and art at the heart of our business is the drive to support cutting edge, experimental and credible work, which celebrates the wealth of
talent found within the West Midlands, creative industries and young people.
Punch has grown to provide music workshops, bespoke educational packages, event promotion, large scale concerts and club nights, training for artists and arts organisations, regional marketers and opportunities for people to develop music skills and enter the creative sector. We focus on providing a range of music events and touring productions including spoken word, theatre, dance, film and visual arts. Punch is also an official Arts Award centre.
