Evening in the Black Country by Edwin Butler-Bayliss © the artists estate
To coincide with the exhibition Edwin Butler Bayliss: Poet Painter of the Black Country, a special study day to celebrate the influence of the Black Country and its changing landscape and industry on artists both past and present.
The day features a variety of insightful talks by historians and a contemporary artist – not to be missed!
10.30 – 10.45: Introduction
10.45 - 11.45: Dr Malcolm Dick (University of Birmingham) – Depictions of the Black Country in the Eighteenth Century
11.45 – 12.45: Dr Connie Wan (WAG) - Edwin Butler Bayliss: Poet Painter of the Black Country
12.45 – 1.30: Lunch
1.30 – 2.30: Dr Michael Hall (Francis Brett Young Society) – Francis Brett Young
2.30 – 3.30: Brian Steventon RBSA – On-site artist at Black Country Living Museum
3.30 – 4.00: Closing remarks/additional questions
