Tue 10th July, 2012

Hundreds of people braved damp weather in Luton to wave off the Olympic Flame as it continues its journey.

Cheering crowds lined the route yesterday morning, as Formula One star Lewis Hamilton carried the Torch away from the town’s St George’s Square at around 6.30am.

University of Bedfordshire Graduate Babatunde Ajisola was amongst those to have the privilege as the Torch made its journey through Luton towards Dunstable.

University Marketing Assistant Hannah Park attended the morning’s event and said: “It was an amazing atmosphere. Lots of people came out early to see Lewis Hamilton and he chatted and signed autographs for fans for about 40 minutes before setting off with the flame."

The Olympic Torch also travelled through Buckinghamshire – close to the University’s Buckinghamshire campus at Aylesbury.

The University’s Buckinghamshire campus is fully equipped with contemporary purpose-built facilities to ensure that our Nursing and Midwifery students learn in a modern and vibrant environment suited for today’s vocational approaches to teaching.
