Remains To Be Seen

December 14, 2009 5:20 AM

Inspired by Aled Lewis' "The Horde"

verse
If I had known when I got out of bed this very morning
I would wind up surrounded underneath this streetlamp
I would have had another cup of tea pulled the covers
over my head and back off to sleep I would decamp

chorus
These days our existential dilemma is often more fleeting than freeing
So I got my shotgun if you know what I mean
My delicately aimed bullet-blaring double barrels are how you know I'm a human being
I will shoot till I'm all that remains to be seen

bridge
Never mind the rhythm let your ammunition hit 'em
Just blast till they're borne ceaselessly into the past
Never mind the gullet pass that bandolier of bullets
And if they get me say I went down firing to the last

verse
A few wrong turns are what irritate me this evening
balanced atop this burnout hulk that used to be a Benz
Bloodthirsty monsters flex their appetites for our necks
At least I don't have to wonder what became of our friends

chorus
These days our existential dilemma is often more fleeting than freeing
So I got my shotgun if you know what I mean
My delicately aimed double barrels (bullets blaring) are how you know I'm a human being
I will shoot till I'm all that remains to be seen
