Rabbi Toba August has been serving Temple Shalom for three years and enjoys working with our vibrant welcoming community.

She loves to teach and facilitate creative rituals, making Judaism accessible and interesting for our contemporary families. Using our honored traditions as our guide, Rabbi August and the TSSB staff infuse our services with uplifting music, moments for silent contemplation, and relevant ethical discussions. We believe in inclusivity and openness, reach out to and welcome interfaith families, and invite all to join us for our joyous, interactive services and other events.

Rabbi August has been a rabbi and educator at different synagogues in the Los Angeles area for the last 16 years.  In addition to Temple Shalom, she is also currently the rabbi of Lev Eisha, a lively community of women engaged in prayer, study and spiritual growth who meet monthly. Rabbi August is also an instructor at the Academy of Jewish Religion where she teaches future rabbis and cantors.

Rabbi August is married and lives in West Los Angeles
