Striping Tape Tutorial

Difficulty - Advanced

This striping tape tutorial is an easy way to "bling" up a boring mani. It's also a great way to ensure your lines look sharp, clean and straight. It can be a bit of a nuisance to work with, which is why I've listed this tutorial as Intermediate rather than Beginner. Once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad to work with. The shiny, metallic results are certainly worth it.

The striping tape I used in this tutorial is from ebay, but another good place to get some is dollarnailart.com. The light blue polish is Konad Regular Polish in Shining Blue and the dark blue is Sinful Colors in Ciao Bella.

Tips & Tricks

  • When you're doing the dark blue stripes, make sure you don't have much polish on your brush. You don't want thick, goopy strips.
  • Make sure you wait until the polish is dry before you start the striping tape. You can see how I messed up my pointer and middle finger just from being impatient.
  • Firmly press the tape down and make sure it's flat against the nail so you don't get any lifting.
  • It would probably be a lot easier with smaller scissors, but hey, I make do with what I have.
  • Prefer a video? Can do!
