Beyond Lithium Ion: ARPA-E Places Bets on Novel Energy Storage

MIT Technology Review reports on PolyPlus receiving a $4.5 million award from ARPA-E for the development of an aqueous, rechargeable lithium-sulfur battery.  PolyPlus is partnering with Johnson Controls to develop the battery, which promises better energy density than today’s lithium-ion batteries.
