I had been using Mocha VNC thinking it was pretty good, but after upgrading Mac OS X to Lion, that stopped working. So I discovered Remoter…for just $0.99 !!! I was skeptical at that price but it is AWESOME!!! SOOP much better than Mocha VNC or Splashtop and it works beautifully. I am using this app for vnc’ing and ssh’ing into 3 different computers (2 MacOS, 1 CentOS Linux) and it works just great. I am very pleased with the multitude o different options to control the remote vnc – full keyboard, trackpad or direct screen taps – with pinching etc for zoom and full screen support. The macros and key manager are very useful too (other vnc apps in the AppStore don’t support pre shared keys – that’s a big no no for me). The price is absolutely great and the support is great as well as far as I can tell (I suggested a new feature and it was implemented in the next version). Maybe take the people who complain about support with a pinch of salt – quite likely they just haven’t set up their vnc servers right and I wouldn’t expect a client developer provide support for that… I really cannot see how one could do anything wrong with this great client.

This is amazing, so easy and intuitive to use. Last year I tried a couple of VNC apps to control my PC from my iPod Touch & then iPhone 4 but gave up as it was hard work. Last week I tried Mocha VNC Lite on my new Mac Mini & iPad2 then paid £3.49 for the paid version hoping for better. It was better, but I still used my normal screen, keyboard & mouse to spend this evening burning CD’s into iTunes. Whilst they were burning I browsed the app store & bought this as it was only 59p. I had it connected to my Mac within a minute & was so impressed I was writing this review within 10 minutes! Real touch pad with touch click. Scroll wheel on screen(not menu buttons like Mocha), easy full screen on/off switching, one & 2 click mouse buttons, automatic context sensitive help teaching you as you go (hopefully I can turn that off once I’ve mastered it) The touch to select seems to be more accurate than the native iPad firmware and it radiates small circles from where you touch making it obvious what you have selected. My wife will be happy, I’m using the Mac Mini as a media centre with iTunes & Plex Media Centre(really cool) & she doesn’t like a 21″ screen, keyboard & mouse cluttering up the lounge, even if they are smart Apple ones. I’m of to play. For 59p you have to try it, I’m sure you won’t be sorry. Enjoy

I was having trouble making it work with Lion. Finally I turned off the “control screen with password” option in the sharing settings on the iMac, and configured Remoter to request a VNC user Id and VNC password. Then I put in my normal logon credentials and I’m in. The benefit to this is you can use Lion’s new feature of access an account that’s not the current active account on the Mac. Works great!

This is a great app; I especially like that you can use it with SSH. For you Lion users, note that OS X apparently changed things a bit for VNC users. You can now log into separate accounts on the same machine. So, rather than use the password you set up in Preference Pane>Sharing>Screensharing etc, use the user name and password for the ACCOUNT you have on your Mac. For many this will be just your “normal” login name and password. Then you’re up and running. BTW, this was a tip I gleaned from the developer’s forum; extra star for good support!

I am amazed by the broad range of features of this VNC client. RDP is in the wings but in the meantime this allows connection to and control of all my windows ‘home’ edition systems with my choice of many excellent VNC server options both free and commercial. I bought the extras using the ‘complete’ in-app purchase and the SSH and Telnet also are feature rich and offer a good alternative to having multiple, separate apps for my remote access needs. Tried several RDP clients… Even Splashtop… And this just has a much better interface for regular tasks. The transparent keyboard and trackpad controller are excellent. I would recommend everyone give this a try before shelling more money for inferior products. Don’t want to slam anyone here… Splashtop has some nice features for accessing you computer over the Internet and streaming movies. But for what I was looking to do this is just perfect. I was using Mocha VNC lite for years (hey it’s free!) for my Macs on my network. I started looking for a replacement since the Lite version’s KB/mousing is lacking to say the least. I went through all of the options in the app store and came across this app. Currently it’s on sale for .99 which is why I pulled the trigger–so far it’s an outstanding buy. The keyboard controls are much better than Mocha Lite, the mouse controls make it so I can do just about anything–I haven’t tried selecting text yet, so I don’t know if it has that capability or not. Also it was nice to see all of my Macs on my network waiting for me to configure my sessions. This is way better than Mocha! For a buck you can’t beat it. There is some in-app pricing and for about $5 total you can have full functionality and free updates–for the initial price it does everything I need. I was trying to think why this app should get less than five stars and right now I can’t think of a thing. UPDATE: after using product for more than a month, I’ve come to the conclusion that this IS the only app. I’ve compared it to the other high rated competitors and this is now my go to app–PERIOD. True, this doesn’t do Flash–and I don’t care–I don’t want it. Another competitor promises Flash, but you have to install their software on all computers accessed…really? No thanks. I’m good.
