Student Application

Web Submission: Complete the on-line course data entry form. Upon submission you will be sent an email acknowledgement to your best email address confirming that you have completed the basic application. This email will include a link that you can use to return to your application to submit the following Required Supporting Documentation (in .pdf format). If reference letters are required, an email will be sent to all your listed references asking that they submit a letter of reference in .pdf format supporting your application.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION:
  • Enclose a copy of your curriculum vitae. Please state your most recent undergraduate GPA (grade point average) as a fraction of the highest possible, i.e., 3.7/4.0.
  • Please arrange for two people who are familiar with your academic and research background and goals to write a letter of recommendation for you. Letters must be submitted by March 6, 2013.
  • Graduate and Undergraduate transcripts are required of all applicants. If your institution outside the U.S. does not issue transcripts, we will accept copies of diplomas or certificates.
  • Please respond to these questions on separate sheets of paper:

    1. The aim of this course is to bring together students from a wide range of backgrounds. At one extreme, an excellent experimental neurobiologist may have relatively little experience in the quantitative analysis of data or in the study of simple models. At the other extreme, an excellent mathematician may know very few of the basic facts about neurons. Please explain where you fit in this broad range of prospective students and what you hope to gain from the course. (Be succinct; half-page maximum.)
    2. We do not expect you to be a master of all the relevant disciplines. On the other hand, you will get more out of the course if you have made an effort to broaden your scientific background. Please explain what steps you have taken in this direction. (Again, be succinct; half-page maximum.)
    3. Describe your level of experience with MATLAB programming. (Half-page maximum.)

Deadline: Completed application forms and required supporting documentation must be received by March 6, 2013.   You will be notified of the Admissions Committee's decision by mid April.

Financial Information: Tuition: $2,090.00; Room & Board: Additional. Financial assistance is available for participants in limited amounts, including non-U.S. citizens. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need. Candidates wishing to be considered for assistance must complete the Financial Aid Information Section included in this application.
