Totally Tubular Time Machine: Dance With The (Sort Of) Stars

Ever wanted to share a cocktail with Lady Gaga? How about sitting at a VIP table with both the past and present versions of Madonna and watch them face-off? Want to bust a move with JLo and Puff Daddy on a crowded dance floor?

While the website is rather vague about what the experience is, Totally Tubular Time Machine is fairly straightforward. It is an interactive, pop music experience that allows you to follow a talented cast of celebrity impersonators through a dance party held at the trendy Culture Club. Root for your favorites as they compete in dance-offs and sing-offs against their competitors through the ages. Watch Madonna past (donning the pointy bra we all know anspacer d love) battle Madonna present (complete with ripped arms and husky voice) in an amazing Madonna medley. Join Michael Jackson in an unexpected choreographed Thriller rendition.

The awesome part of this performance piece is the amazingly talented cast, who truly commit to their impersonations. Various celebrities pulled me aside to offer some marital advice, and Justin Bieber pinned me on the dance floor to confess some confusing feelings he was having towards competitor Vanilla Ice. Just about anything can happen at this party when the music's playing and the dance floor is rocking. The time machine shtick wasn't quite fitting though- after all the pomp at the entrance and the cute theme drink menus, it's doesn't feel much like 1983. Don't let the anachronisms bug you though!

While there were some slow moments when the cast seemed to have trouble moving across the crowded club and making it to their respective stages, the show was a totally immersive, pop-music experience perfect for bachelorette parties and birthdays. With regular admission tickets listed at $60 and a VIP ticket running $90, the show is a decent deal, since they provide you free entrance to the Culture Club when your interactive dance party has ended. TTTM runs most every Saturday at 8PM (check the website for blackout dates), so grab some girlfriends and get ready to dance the night away with Katy Perry and Britney Spears.
