From beekeeping to cover crops, the White House continues to set a high bar with their gardening practices. Sam Kass, Assistant Chef and Food Initiatives Coordinator for the White House, shows off the latest exciting addition to the White House garden- hoop houses. These temporary green houses allow for year round growing. In addition to sweet winter spinach, the garden will also produce winter vegetables lettuce, carrots, mustard greens, chard and cabbage. A cover crop of rye has also been planted to preserve top soil and prevent erosion.
