Open Access in PRST-PER

Physical Review Special Topics - Physics Education Research (PRST-PER) is an online-only, open access journal that is distributed without charge, and financed by article-processing charges (APCs) to the authors or to the authors' institutions. To defray editorial, composition, hosting, and archiving expenses, there is an APC of $1700 for a regular article; $1000 for a Short Paper.

Payment of APCs is necessary to maintain free access to PRST-PER. Accepted manuscripts will not be forwarded to production until APCs are paid in full. If an author or the author's institution is unable to pay the APCs in full, the author may request a reduction of the APC by emailing stper-waiver@aps.org. We ask that all requests include a justification for the reduction and the amount of aid needed. The aid will come from limited funds donated by the sponsoring organizations; the American Physical Society (APS), the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), and the APS Forum on Education (APS FEd).

Articles in PRST-PER are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. Copyright is not transferred to APS for articles published in PRST-PER.
