NEW VIDEO: Live @ Dimension Sound Studios (Jamaica Plain, MA) – Morning in Glen Burnie

February 27th, 2013

In anticipation of Friday night’s album release show in Boston at the Lizard Lounge (tix here!) for my new record ‘Morning in Glen Burnie‘, I have posted a brand, spanking new video of me and the band (Kimon Kirk, Billy Beard, Lyle Brewer, Tom West) performing the song in Jamaica Plain’s Dimension Sound Studios.

Friend and engineer Dan Cardinal recorded and mixed the band live in the studio and the good folks at Extraneous Noise came by to help with the filming. Enjoy. See you Friday.

FRIDAY NIGHT @ LIZARD LOUNGE!!! ALBUM-RELEASE SHOW (BOSTON)

February 26th, 2013

Somehow its nearly March, and the Boston-area album release show for Morning in Glen Burnie is fast approaching this Friday night. Hard to believe it’s here to be honest. Also hard to believe this is my 3rd album release in the past 3.5 years. While I’ll be doing a few other release shows (in NY (3/21), DC (TBD) and Nashville (TBD)) among others, this Boston show will really be a special event with so many old friends and family in attendance. I grew-up in the area of course and the album was recorded nearby in Jamaica Plain at Dimension Sound with a host of excellent Boston-based musicians . . . . so this one on Friday will have some deep roots for sure. Really looking forward to it.

We will be playing the new album that night at the Lizard Lounge with an incredible group of musicians, including the producer of the record and friend Kimon Kirk (bass). Rounding out the band will be Duke Levine (guitar), Billy Beard (drums) & James Rohr (piano). Amy Correia will also stop in to join in on a few of the songs she sang with me on the record (i.e. But I Don’t Care & Take Her Somewhere) which will be a real treat.

I’m also excited that we have a great band starting the night with Boston’s own Jess Tardy and her band kicking-off the show. Jess is an incredible singer and I was lucky to have her sing on a few tracks on the new album as well. So all-in-all, it’s going to be a great night. Big Sur / San Fran

February 9th, 2013

Ended-up playing a last minute show last night in Big Sur at the Maiden Publick House. My backdrop was a roaring fire of oak wood and the gorgeous woods of the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. Not bad. Thanks to Mike at the Henry Miller Memorial Library for setting this up for me last minute.

For my friends in Boston and throughout New England digging-out this AM from a massive blizzard, here is a photo I took yesterday off Rt 1. Really slummin’ it out here.

Super Bowl Free Download of title track from new album; Morning in Glen Burnie

February 3rd, 2013

Well, with the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl today (who just so happened to beat the Patriots who I’ve cheered for all my life . . being that I grew-up in Massachusetts.) I thought I’d post the title track (‘Morning in Glen Burnie’) from the new album today as a free download just for the rest of the day. (For those who don’t get the connection, Glen Burnie is a town located just outside of Baltimore.) Maybe hard to believe, but I’m actually pulling for the Ravens tonight as well.

enjoy the game

Recap: Sold-out night @ IOTA Club & Cafe + San Fran shows next week

January 30th, 2013

I returned last week to Arlington, VA to play at IOTA Club & Cafe. IOTA has been the ground zero of my music career in the Metro DC area. I first started playing open-mics there, then smaller singer-songwriter showcases, weekday night shows with a trio, eventually weekend nights with a full band etc. . So needless to say, I was real excited that DC’s own (NoVa’s tecnhically?) alt-country band The Walkways invited me to support their album release show. It was a blast with a line out the door. Sadly, some old friends didn’t make it into the club because of that line . .. which is a far cry from some other shows I’ve played in-the-not so distant past. Overall, it was a great night and I had some old friends from NYC in the rhythm section (Matt Brundrett and Nick Tardif) and a new friend on lead-guitar, Jack Gregori that helped make it a great show. A very cool night indeed, with us even throwing in a Waylon Jennings cover song near the end of the night.

San Fran shows: February 9 (House Concert) / February 10 (Hotel Utah Saloon) / February 11 (Osteria)

Real excited to head-out to San Francisco next week for a small run of shows. I have not been out that way in over 10 years. I added a Sunday night show at Hotel Utah Saloon with Country Jeb and then on Monday I’ll be playing a singer-songwriter showcase as part of “KC Turner Presents” over at Osteria.

MASC Awards @ Jammin Java

On Sunday night, I received my “Gold Award” for Best Song in the 29th Annual MASC Awards, in the adult contemporary category. A great honor from the folks at SAW and I got to see some great local artists perform who had won in other categories. Here is a pic of me performing the winning song “But I Don’t Care” that DC-based singer-songwriter Justin Trawick tweeted that night . .

January 3rd, 2013

Happy New Year. Well, I got some very cool news this week. The first track on my new (and not-quite-yet-fully-released) album, (‘Morning in Glen Burnie’) received the “GOLD” winner for Best Adult Contemporary song in the 29th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, put on annually by SAW (Songwriters Association of Washington). Thank you SAW for this recognition.

I still have 2 weeks left on my Pledge Music campaign for those that want to pre-order the album & participate in helping fund this new release. You can (check it out here). Tom McBride’s Pledge Music Page

I’m also offering this song that won (‘But I Don’t Care’) as a free download below too.

Finally, a quick THANK YOU to Amy Correia who sang harmonies on this track with me, Dan Cardinal who engineered the song, Ryan Freeland who mixed it and Kimon Kirk, (production & bass), Lyle Brewer (guitar), Tom West (piano) & Billy Beard (drums) for helping make it sound the way it does.
