Wrike – Project Collaboration Tool

Wrike is an awesome project collaboration tool, it lets you efficiently collaborate with other people(employees, team members, etc…) on different projects, regardless of their location. It’s an extremely fast and simple application that has all the necessary features, nothing extra. And on top of all that, it’s totally free. To start using it you only need to complete a short sign-up form and afterwards activate your account. Everything is quite straightforward, you simply login and start adding projects. For each project you need to specify;
- ..name(ex; sales, semester project, Feb 1′st meeting…etc)
- ..people who are responsible for it(ex; someone@gmail.com)
- ..add people who can view project,
- ..add deadline
- ..describe it
- ..add attachments (if there are any)
More on this including screenshots, here. Once registered you may also add projects to your wrike account by sending an email to wrike@wrike.com. All other recipients indicated in the email will be
automatically registered in Wrike and invited to be either responsible for (if the recipient’s email is in field “To”) or an observer (if in the field “Cc”) of the task progress.
More Collaboration Features

- ..stay up-to-date: receive instant notification as soon as something is edited/updated by someone
- ..history: each task within the project has it’s own history page displaying all revisions over the project course. In case you’re not satisfied with any particular revision, the document can always be reverted to any of the previous versions.
- .. personal use: if you want to keep something private and restricted only to yourself simply don’t share it with anyone
- …everyone is involved: people who are responsible for or observers of the same task or in the same group have equal rights(privileges) for working on it. Anyone of them can edit its properties, such as description, status, etc. And once something is changed, all of them will be aware of it.
- ..project/task status: each project can have 4 different states(active,completed,deferred or canceled)

The December edition of TaskWorks has a similar facility to Wrike in that it too lets users setup To-Do items and reminders by emailing the TaskWorks mail agent. There’s also a freeware addin to integrate the entire TaskWorks workspace with Outlook 2007 calendar and Task list. We created TaskWorks for managing our own in-house projects before we launched it as a product. At the time we couldn’t find an affordable product with strong timesheet and expense accounting combined with Project collaboration (Message boards, file upload areas and To-Do items), they either fell into the category of Collaboration or Management and never both. Feel free to give it a tryout. There’s a free 28 day trial.
Nick, to compare TaskWorks and Wrike is simply rediculous! Wrike is a full featured project management application, a corporation with thousands of customers, and how many users does your tool have? You just can’t compare these two
The only thing which matters in our case is that Wrike offers free account option. But, I still have to admit Wrike offers a much better product than most of the companies in ‘collaboration‘ area.
Whats all the bickering about? Personally I use CommuniClique project management software and it explicitly delivers all the features I require such as VOIP and all projects are hosted on a web-base server enabling our group to make any further changes away from the office. Thanks for the suggestions I will test out different verticals to determine software aforementioned are better suited for my needs.
I’ve been experimenting with various project management tools and have discovered an excellent site. It is a very user friendly, web-based application that is well worth taking the time to explore. Take a few minutes and look at Projjex.com. The tutorials are excellent & you don’t need to be a Rocket Scientist to figure out how to use it. It even offers a free version so you can try it on for size.
If you are looking for something more than the simple pm tool and less complext than the hi-end ones, check out DeskAway . The free plan will let you test drive 3 projects with 5 people. All other plans comes with unlimited users. DeskAway’s goal is to eliminate guesswork that happens when multiple people are working on multiple things.

Another great alternative to Wrike is SantexQ. It’s a free online project management tool that works well for those who want a simpler approach to task management.
