Apply Online to Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and/or UM's Minor in Nonprofit Administration

Nonprofit organizations play a vital role in the care and development of our society and environment. To fulfill their missions, these organizations need dedicated, trained professionals with the desire and ability to make positive differences in their communities.  Nonprofit professionals reap intrinsic and financial rewards while making a difference in society.

The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance(NLA) Professional Credential and the Minor in Nonprofit Administration are degree-enhancing programs at UM that provide students with specialized skills and knowledge to work in the nonprofit sector. After completion of program requirements, students receive a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential from the national Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and/or a Minor in Nonprofit Administration from The University of Montana. The NLA Professional Credential is available to UM graduate students.

The NLA credential and the minor program at UM are designed to teach skills in the following areas: program development, communication and marketing, legal and ethical decision making, cultural competency, financial resource development and management, governance, volunteer and human resource management.

To earn the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance credential and/or a Minor in Nonprofit Administration, students must complete course requirements, and complete a 300-hour internship. NLA credential students must also attend one Alliance Management Institute national conference (offered each year in early January at a major US city), and actively participate in the Nonprofit Leadership Student Association at UM.  For more information contact Andrea Vernon at 243-5159 or andrea.vernon@mso.umt.edu.
