Munoz murder suspect enters Alford plea
Gerardo Miguel Valenzuela Navarro, one of three suspects in the murder of Ramiro Munoz Jr. on Sept. 23, 2011, has accepted a plea deal, according to Quincy Police Department investigative detective, Sal Mancini.

QVS gives to food bank
On Tuesday, March 5, sixth- through eighth-grade Quincy Valley School students delivered 1,059 pounds of food to the Quincy Food Bank. They also delivered over 2,000 used plastic grocery sacks to be used by patrons of the Food Bank.

Kaye Baumgartner moved to the Quincy area from Linn, Ore. in 1987 after her husband, Chris came to help out with his family’s farm. At the time, her daughter, Schaylee, was in the third grade and Joey, her son, was in first grade.
A love for books
Although the Quincy Valley holds its attraction, Betty Simon finds her most exciting adventures in life have been found in between the pages of her favorite books. As the librarian for the new George Public Library, she finds herself living a dream come true.
