Anti-Harassment Policy

The organizers of the 2011 SPLASH Conference are dedicated to a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, therefore we are pleased to announce the adoption of the SIGPLAN anti-harassment policy.

Harassment is unwelcome or hostile behavior, including speech that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with a person's participation, or opportunity for participation, in a SIGPLAN event.

This policy has been in the works at the ACM SIGPLAN for several months; SPLASH 2011 is proud to be both the driver for that effort and the first ACM conference with such policy in place. This policy is not a symbolic gesture, delivered to satisfy a perceived need for political correctness, but instead goes to the core of both our personal beliefs and the beliefs of the community as a whole.

We give special attention to graduate students and young professionals who may feel threatened by inappropriate behavior on the part of conference participants who are often in a position of perceived power over their careers.

The annual SPLASH Conference is an opportunity for the world-wide software research community to come together, build connections, and learn about each others' ideas. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in this professional environment.
