It's only a few days since we released PivotX 2.3.5, but an unfortunate error crept into the build: We had updated Jquery to the latest version, but that introduced an incompatibility with the version of jQuery UI that we were using. We've released version 2.3.6, which has an updated version of jQuery UI, that fixes the incompatibility. Other than that, this release is an incremental update for PivotX 2.3. It contains minor updates and fixes, that were recently fixed. This is a recommended upgrade for all PivotX 2.x websites. This release contains no security fixes. For former security related issues and patches, see the page dedicated to Security issues.
These are the changes since PivotX 2.3.3:
The PivotX 2.3.6 release can be downloaded from this location: pivotx.net/files/pivotx_latest.zip (or pivotx.net/files/pivotx_latest.tgz, if you prefer.tgz files). For setup instructions, we point you to our documentation: Getting the files & installing. If you're having trouble downloading the files, you can also download them from our sourceforge mirror.
Thanks Bob. After I updated (from 2.3.0) to 2.3.5, I wasn’t able to edit templates anymore. So I turned back to a previous version.
Did this have anything to do with this unfortunate error you mentioned?
Anyway, now I’ll try again with 2.3.6. :-)
Yes – see forum.pivotx.net/viewtopic.php?f=..
Ok, Hans. Thanks very much.
Is it possible to upgrade directly to v2.3.6 from an earlier release (say, v2.3.3), or do we have to upgrade in steps to prevent breaking anything?
Good question. For PivotX direct upgrades are safe – unless we explicitly say differently in the announcement.
I’ve been stress testing it for a while, and I am very impressed. v2.3.6 is much more responsive than the last few releases have been, even on shared hosting.
Hello,
I’m running my blog under PivotX 2.3.3 and want to update to 2.3.6.
I’ve downloaded “pivotx_latest.zip” but I’ll guess if I copy all files to my webspace I will loose all my settings because it would be like a new installation instead an update / patch?
What have I to do if I only want to patch my System?
TIA,
Joerg
You will not lose all of your settings if you update to v2.3.6. Those configuration options do not get overwritten on an upgrade. It is safe for you to copy the files up to your webspace.
