Instead of performing noble deed, as its name suggests, the army corp Jiwa Murni rural road project is bringing misery to the Ba Kelalan community. The community pleas for the army to leave their water source alone had fallen on deaf ear and they had to take their objection to the court for an injunction to stop the project. However, the court has rejected their plea as it is of the opinion that an injunction cannot be used against the army. The community is now awaiting the attorney-general office to check on the legality of the project while they endure polluted drinking water and disruption to their farming activities.
A PR MP lost his legal challenge against the Election Commission to review the electoral roll for the Klang parliamentary seat which is riddled with phantom voters. Yet another case of how the judiciary is subservient to the corrupt BN regime.
Distrust of the electoral roll among Malaysians is prevalent among many sound-thinking citizens. A Miri resident who will vote in the interior tells RFS that he has personally came across many new voters who are deliberately left out from the roll for fear (by BN) that they are PR supporters.
Resistance against the mega dam project is giving jitters to the Sarawak BN with Taib Mahmud now admitting the mistakes of Bakun Dam. But anti-dam activists question his sincerity. A Bakun dam victim challenges the Chief Minister to right the wrong of Bakun first (if ever that can be done) before even embarking on building other dams.
Is BR1M a BN’s knee-jerk reaction to the many PR people-centric aids? A Pakan villager certainly thinks so and he also thinks BR1M pales in comparison to the welfare policy that voters in PR-rule states are enjoying.
