My Thoughts:Just like the other Luca Lashes book (Luca Lashes and his first swim lesson,  Luca Lashes and His First Haircut, and Luca Lashes and the Trip to the Nursing Home) this is another great book. Going to the Doctor can be very scarry for little kids, especially if they are old enought to remember the last time that they went and they recieved a shot. Both of my kids do not like getting shots, and honestly my 17 year old is worse than my 7 year old in this manner. But I have found out over the years that if they know what is going to happen the visits to the doctor go a whole lot smoother, even if they will get a shot this time around. This Luca book is great in the way that is shows all the steps that kids will go through when they go to the doctor, even the waiting in the waiting room before you get to go in to see the doctor. The pictures are great, colorful and sure to capture little kids attention. I also really like the fact that in the story Luca admits that the shot hurt “just a little” bit. I really think that being honest with kids is the best way to go, by fibbing a bit the first time you might get kids to cooperate that time but in the future they wont. Like the other Luca books this one is a great introduction to little kids who might have some memories of going to the doctor before and are really scared of getting shots, or even just going to the doctor. Just remind the kids to blink their magic eye lashes and then they can be brave enough, just like Luca.
