Silver & Gold Sparkle

Oh … hey there!! I haven’t posted any outfit photos in a while – shame on me! I usually use my weekends to get a little bit caught up on blog stuff but we’ve been going non-stop for two weekends in a row now! It’s nice to just be able to sit down, breath, and get a few ideas organized for upcoming posts! There was no real planing involved in this one .. so you get my free-write-brain-dump today! I think I’m going to have to start putting in some late night hours to keep things on track because my day job just doesn’t leave me with a lot of time!

I should let you all in on a secret- my hair isn’t this color any more! Nerp! Last Friday before we went out of town for the weekend I decided I had to dye my horrible roots, because The Gaslight Anthem would surely see them from the stage and be disgusted? I don’t know why but I just .. I could not go out of town without dying my hair. It turns out that Sally Beauty closes at 8PM and we arrived precisely at 8PM, of course. I stood at the locked door watching the last few people check out while the cashier gal mouthed, “We’re closed”. Deflated, we drove toward Target. I made a last minute decision to purchase a box dye – a thing I swore I’d never do again. Oh guys! My hair is dark and strangely uneven – but FABULOUS looking. Hahaha. It totally looks like I did whatever I did on purpose. I was not happy at first but it’s still very red, and almost looks ombre. Last night I gave it a good all over trim and added some layers – I’m feeling pretty good about it now! It’s probably not very Spring or Summer but I’m thinking a few blonde (and turquoise!) highlights might be just what it needs! Now.. I will make you wait to see photos. :]

We finally have some sunshine today – which is so nice! It’s in the 60′s and I’m feeling so pumped about hopefully having seen the last of the disgusting grey weather. For at least a week there was constant drizzle/snow mix with a few inches here and there, and then our heat went out upstairs! Getting out of bed in the morning when your house is an ice box is the WORST. We shut it off for a few days and thankfully when I tried it this morning, it came on! Of course it did, now that it’s warm outside. ;]

I’m still plugging away at my diet and exercise routine! Saturdays are cheat days – meaning I can eat whatever I want! I had just a few tiny slices of pizza and felt so full immediately. It is beyond amazing what regular portion control can do. I used to be able to eat so much and I would still be hungry! I got a really good workout in this morning, had my protein shake, and finished it off with pizza. SO I’m feeling good about today. Have a great weekend, guys!

Peach Sheerling

Oh my, I’ve had these photos on my computer for a little while – just waiting to to make it on to the blog! These boots from Gap are so wonderfully cozy and at the top of my ‘favorite things I own’ list right now! They were such a steal at around $20. Y’all know I can’t pass up a good deal. It’s funny how one new item in my closet can lead to a completely new outfit – does that happen to you? I purchased this dress so long ago (years!) and since dying my hair red I’ve had my reservations about wearing it. It’s actually much more of a coral/peachy color than how it appears in these photos. Somehow it caught my eye as I tried to come up with something solid that would go well with the neutral tones in the boots and tights – and tada! This is why I have trouble getting rid of clothing I haven’t worn in a long time. This dress!

It was pretty cold when I took these photos. I look like I’m about to freeze to death in the one above! Interestingly enough it was in the 70′s a day or two later and then a few days after that it dropped into the teens with a windchill of -8! I’m telling you, I never question my sanity for moving to Kentucky from Florida like I do every. single. January. It’s alright! I don’t miss walking out the door and having my makeup melt off of my face immediately. Gotta give a little somewhere, right?!

Black, White, & Red

I couldn’t think of a witty title for this outfit post. I’m honestly surprised I’m even able to think to blog right now (11pm!)! Work has been hectic and the weekend was completely full. It was full of fun, but still! I wore this outfit to work on Friday and I really liked the way it came together. I’ve been trying to force myself to mix things up a little with my outfits! It’s been easy to be a bit lazy with what I wear knowing that I’m just going to end up covered in sweat at the gym later! I’ve been feeling stretched pretty thin lately! There are certainly not enough hours in the day to get everything done and it can feel pretty frustrating at times. One of my New Years resolutions was to manage my time a bit better, but now I’m starting to realize that I already manage my time just about as efficiently as possible. I really enjoy sleeping a little later when I can and I try not to make myself feel bad for that one because I work hard and I deserve it! But overall, I’ve started using my free time very efficiently. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to go around! I have a new blog design in the works (yes – again!), I’m starting a new blog project with a friend from my hometown (woo!), needing to help her set up her own blog, planning a bachelorette party for one bride, planning a shopping trip for a bridesmaid dress for another bride, and trying to enjoy some down time with Nate somewhere in between! If you have any extra hours in your day to spare – send ‘em my way! ;]

Rosette

spacer
This skirt is an oldie but a goodie! Remember it here from our engagement shoot? The poor little rosettes have started to come apart a bit. I’ve literally pinned one of them in place but have yet to actually sew it back together. I’m just wearing it around with the pin it! I got really, really excited when I went to post this outfit because this skirt is the color of the season right? Oxblood, right?! Or was that for Fall? (I’m obviously in the know!) Don’t worry, friends – I’m just kidding. Every year I see a new term come out for the word “maroon” and nothing has made me cringe harder than “oxblood”. Just … no. I don’t like it. I’m just big on calling things what they are, we don’t need to get fancy.

This stripped little top is actually a dress! It’s always been a teensy bit short and form fitting to fit the definition of a “dress”! It works wonderfully as a top though and it also has pockets, which become secret (and unusable) pockets when worn under things! So exciting. (=

Today was such a great day! I ended up meeting a friend for a little impromptu photo shoot and it was a lot of fun! I absolutely can’t wait to show you some of the photos she took! I felt so special/spoiled having a photographer take my photo and um, I could get used to that! It’s a hundred times more fun having someone to collaborate with vs. going out somewhere by yourself with a tripod. Especially when that someone is a female your own age, who reads the same blogs that you do! She definitely knew what I was going for, haha! Thanks Erika, I had such a fun time hanging out with you!
