Candy Cottage

I’m going to be posting some flash fiction once in a while. I’m trying to get it so it appears on another tab instead of front page, but my wordpress skills aren’t good enough to figure that out yet…

Candy Cottage
Days like today she has an irrational fantasy, a delicious wish as she sits in parking lots, waiting for the children to emerge from various gyms and rec centers. She imagines running into the hills, into the forests that flank the houses of the professors. She sees herself in a small cottage, made of bric-a-brac, or gingerbread, or moss and sticks. Or candy, she thinks now. Yes. A candy cottage with an oven for her ex husband and the man at the bank who always always asks for ID, who surely knows her by now, but who reminds her each and every visit, that she is completely forgettable.
