Elisabeth Moss Talks to Life Magazine
Here’s a nice piece in Life from a while back that Basketcases will enjoy. It’s vintage office photos, circa 1965, with Lizzie commenting on the photos. The interview took place before the Season 4 premiere. The photos are the juicy goodness, though. How much do I love this one:
You can feel, smell, see that room. It brings back memories from the early ’80s, when people still smoked in offices. It has a real aura. About it, Lizzie says: I love photos that don’t have people in them. And it makes you wonder what just happened — what scene took place right before this. I love the placement of the three lamps, in concert with the placement of the three glasses…. Very mysterious.
And hold onto your hats, because this is a gem:
Lizzie: I love the first woman — she’s got such a real face. I like also the clutter of the desks. On our show, that’s a really important thing to Matt [Weiner] — that the desks constantly be messy, messy, messy.
You’ll enjoy the whole thing.

I read this when it first came out, but loved seeing it again. Thanks.
Life sent it to me and I really loved it and then I realized it was old so I saved it for a sleepless night when I had nothing prepared, knowing that such a night would surely come.
I submitted an item about Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday to Basketcase News just now.
I mistyped a S-3 when I meant S-2, so I hope Karl catches that if he uses the link in the weekly Mad News.
By the way, the birthday special content starts at about 12 minutes into the audio clip after a news update, in case anybody wants to skip all the current events stuff.
SmilerG: (As one of the moderators) I tried to edit your item but it wouldn’t let me do it. So I had to just delete it and then I re-added it to the Submissions. I changed “Season 3″ to “Season 2.”
That Submissions plugin is buggy and doesn’t let you edit, and no upgrade has ever been available. But it’s better than the others I tried.
Thanks, Mad Chick!
This was so cool! Thank you for sharing.
Love these photos! Especially the smoky table one, and the one with the guy vacuuming around the woman’s feet. He looks like a total beatnik with those sideburns.
