The Elephant & The Whale

APRIL 10 - MAY 26, 2013

Chicago Children’s Theatre’s seventh season concludes with a world-premiere collaboration with Redmoon’s Frank Maugeri to bring The Elephant & the Whale to life on stage. This family fable has everything young audiences will love, from sea voyages to circus songs to wild mechanical objects. It is 1919 and the end of an era for Ella the beloved circus elephant. When a nefarious new owner takes over the homegrown show, the star elephant discovers an unexpected new animal in the circus: a landlocked and homesick baby whale. What happens next is a unique story of friendship and adventure that Redmoon helps turn into a dazzling spectacle for the stage. The performance features live song, panoramic painting apparatuses and innovative shadow puppetry. Audiences of all ages will leave delighted by the enchanting tale of The Elephant & The Whale.
