The social networking site is growing rapidly—the amount of unique visitors to the site increased by 429 percent between September and December 2011, and December alone claimed 7.21 million unique visitors.
But Pinterest does more than showcase pretty pictures—it helps business. In terms of social networks, Pinterest is the fifth largest driver of referral traffic, bested by Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Yahoo!, respectively.
But before you abandon your current marketing plan for Pinterest, keep in mind that search engines and other retailers are still the largest drivers of referral traffic to online stores. Social media ranks third.
