Entertainment or Informative what works?

I know I have been comparing the two a lot recently and I shouldnt. Though a lot is to do with their rivalry.

Its also about who actually advertises better. I mean that when watching these two commercials what do you learn about the product? The brand? These are the two first questions I ask myself when watching these.

Microsoft Surface (Entertaining?)

Microsoft shows some body popping and a take on opening and closing the device… erm great so I know how to do that.

Product awareness if anything?

Apple iPad (Informative, Simplicity)

Apple on the other hand knows our time is limited and so is our attention. short simple gestures of what we can do with the product before showing the advertising message.

Apple have always had a more creative and modern approach to advertising. One that customers globally respect, understand and then contribute to sales.

Microsoft need to learn that the message of Why customers should buy, How it makes life easier for them, then finally What are the benefits is the approach to take. With the final capture of the audience attention the long lasting image that now lingers in their mind after they captivated the audience.

But this cannot happen without delivering a consistent message across all mediums. A problem that is facing such large corporations in every industry that relies on advertising.

Nor does this mean its Apple, there are many approaches and Apple uses just one.
